Mt. Rainier Winter

This winter has been an interesting one to say the least. High snow levels and high temperatures have closed pretty much every ski area here in the northwest, so we have been forced up to the higher elevation volcanoes. Here’s a small article I wrote for Newschoolers.com about our winter if you want to read about it in more detail: http://www.newschoolers.com/membernewsread/Where-Winter

Mt. Rainier is about 2 hours from my house in Tacoma, it’s hard to miss on a clear day due to its prominence over other peaks in the area, and has some of the most accessible snow in the state all year. With most of the runs pictured only a  couple hour skin up from the Paradise Visitor Center. Consequently, about half of my days shooting this year have been on Rainer. Rainier and the other Cascades volcanoes are unique to the Northwest, providing fun skiing and amazing views.  I’m starting to save some of my favorite shots for a longer term project, but here are some of my favorites!

A lot of Washingtonians have had the same idea
